In his practice, Shawn advises clients on strategies in their most important litigation disputes. He does this by effectively blending two traits: an unwavering drive to place his clients in the best position possible balanced by a recognition that the most effective path to that position varies from client to client and case to case (and, sometimes, from moment to moment).

The practice of law, especially one focused on trials and arbitrations, is a profession centered around disagreement. That disagreement commonly evolves into full-blown conflict, the ultimate result of which can leave everyone involved worse off. Shawn works tirelessly to prevent that outcome for his clients. He does that primarily by asking pointed questions and then listening intently to the answers. His unique ability to digest what is said—and not said—then allows him to proceed deliberately towards his clients’ ultimate goal.

Shawn’s concentrated focus on the smallest details of a case allows him to untangle the critical aspects of even the most complex legal matters. Time after time throughout his nearly 30 years of practice representing a diverse set of clients involved in a variety of subject matters, it was only after this unraveling occurred that the full picture of a case came into focus. And it was sometimes only then that the hardest work of all—crossing the finish line—could be charted, planned for, and fully executed.

At times, the finish line comes long before a jury delivers a verdict, as that is in a client’s best interest. Owing to their preparation and readiness for trial, Shawn and his teams have successfully resolved many cases before it was left to the jury. But other times, the finish line only comes when the jury renders its verdict. That is when Shawn’s unique ability to distill complex details into facts and illustrations that a jury can relate to—an aptitude for transforming intricate facts and concepts into persuasive trial presentations—provides his clients with the advantage they need to prevail at trial.
